Silver Diamine Fluoride is an antimicrobial liquid that allows us to treat severe cavities in a quick, non-invasive manner. This material is placed to remineralize or save severely decayed teeth. This material needs to be placed in baby teeth that we are not sure of the restorability of, or if there are multiple areas of decay. The material will turn the decay black, as to seal it off from additional bacteria/decay. The SDF will be placed sometimes 2 times within a year and sometimes a filling can be placed upon it.
We are here to answer all of your Silver Diamine Fluoride Treatment questions! Don’t see a question here that you have? Call or email us, as we’d love to answer it for you!
Silver Diamine Fluoride is an antimicrobial liquid that helps prevent tooth decay from occurring and/or growing.
Our Silver Diamine Fluoride treatments are administered quickly and painlessly! First, we will asses your child’s dental health. Then, as needed, we will dry the affected areas and apply the liquid to any area with tooth decay. Occasionally, we will add a crown to the tooth to ensure tooth health.
A Silver Diamine Fluoride treatment can last anywhere from 3 to 12 months. Depending on your child’s case, we might bring them in twice a year to administer the treatment.
